Piggy brings order and civilization to the island. It is his idea to have a meeting, use the conch to avoid chaos, and to worry about the littluns. But he is not treated kindly by the other boys. Give three examples of how Ralph and Jack treat him unfairly, then determine whether or not you consider their actions as bullying.

ReplyDeletePiggy is the boy who has brought civilization to the island. While he tries to accomplish this, the other boys bully him. For example, Ralph and Jack make fun of him, did not let him go on the hunt to make sure the island was an island and they call him names. Piggy is not fairly treated and it brings down his self-confidence.

Jack and Ralph treated piggy unfairly in many ways. some of the ways were, not letting him come along with them, not letting piggy speak, and not giving him credit for his brilliant ideas. I believe that Piggy should have been the leader and or treated like he mattered. -Vanessa

I think that these three things listed do count as bullying because they're excluding Piggy from everything that they do as a group.

ReplyDeletePiggy is somewhat a silent hero.He keeps all the order on the island, and has good creative ideas on strategies and other aspects of their survival on the island. Althogh piggy is such an important key to their survival on the island Ralph and Jack do n ot treat him fairly. One way they disrespect him is by calling him piggy he did not want them to call him piggy. They stole his glasses from Piggy despite him begging for them back.The boys just do not treat him with the amount of respect he deserves they make fun of him, dont listen to his opinions and takes him for granite. Ralph and Jack bully inocent piggy, when he has done nothing but help and try to fit in. It is not right that they treat him that way and they shopuld be much nicer to him considering how much help he has been to them while on the island.

ReplyDeleteRalph and Jack are very mean treat Piggy unfairly in the story Lord of the flies. For example there always calling him names like fat boy or ass-mar because hes fat and has asthma. Another example is they wouldn't let Piggy use the conch when he wanted to talk even though it was his idea to use the conch shell. Another example is they wouldn't let Piggy go on the hunt to look for food. Yes I do consider this bullying because he's the only person there making fun of

ReplyDeletePiggy is a very important character in this book and should get more credit than he does. He gets made fun of by the other boys because he is fat. Even though he brought civilization to the island he gets treated like he is not important. He deserves to be treated like an important role in their small society. He also dose not get to talk even though he made up the idea of using the conch. The boys didn't let piggy go on the hunt for food and to see if they were actually on an island. Overall i believe that piggy should have a bigger part in their society because he is one of the only civilized people there.

Piggy has not been treated fairly in a few ways. One way is how the boys make fun of him. He is called fat and dumb and is told no-one likes him. They also ignore him and refuse to listen to him when he says things. They tell him to shut up and that he has bad ideas but every good idea came from him. This brings me to my next point of how they disrespect him and take credit for his ideas. They say he is dumb but really it was his idea to have the conch represent power and it was his idea to have a meeting. Everything he does is for the better but Ralph, Jack and all of the others just mean comments and disrespect him. If this isn't bullying than I don’t know what is because if you did this in school you would be given detention for bullying.

ReplyDeletePiggy was treated unfairly and bullied by Jack and Ralph. Ralph was not supposed to tell the other boys that the fat boy's name is Piggy, but he did they all started making fun of him. Piggy has also had some great ideas that he got not credit for, like using the conch to avoid chaos and to have a meeting. Finally they disrespected him by not letting him talk when it was his turn with the conch like everyone else.
