What can we do for 'justice'?

As we consider the injustices in our reading, as well as the injustices around us, we do so with a range of emotions.  What do you think we can do, as individuals and as members of our community, to ensure that our world becomes a more peaceful, equitable place?  YOU HAVE 10 MINUTES.

  1. I personally think that there can never be complete peace in the world specifically between countries and communities. As we se it today there are wars being faught and injustices that shouldnt be occuring happening. Everyone has there own views on things and thats what starts injustices. I believe that with the world having many different types of people, and many different types of religions the world will never be a completely peaceful place.

  2. People do a lot of things to try and ensure justice and peace. They hold anti-bullying movements, and they try to get the message out to "respect each other and get along." They do all of this, but it is sometimes taken to an unnecessary level. After all, there is only so much we can do, and even if we do it, people will still fight. They will still go to war and kill each other, and they will still single out and treat unfairly people that are different. Unfortunately, that's just part of human nature, and we can't change it. You can shove "peace, love, and justice" down people's throats forever, but the fact is that there will always be people who just WON'T LISTEN. Call me a cynic, but no matter how much you emphasize the prospect of a wonderful world, there will always be a lot of bad out there.

    1. There ARE a lot of people out there who will always try to rebel against the rules and laws, and these are the people who are trying to start the wars, and fights. As you said, it IS part of human nature, and we can't shove peace love and justice at people. Their gunna find a way to get around it, like people have tried to do before.

    1. As a communnity we tend to mix up our priorites. People want to be the most successful in the world. They want money, power and respect, and that is great, but it isn't worthy of the attention that people give it. Instead, we can divert that attention and manpower to more pressing issues. Everyday, people are in peril and are struggling to make ends meet. Also, instead of the people of the world worrying about how has the most power and fighting each other. We could make peace with them, which would render the idea of getting the most power useless anyway. Although, human nature ultimatley dictats our actions and people will always disagree with each other and fight, but with these things in mind the world would be come a more peaceful place.

police need to notl ie to their suspects. it's not right and it gives them a false idea of what is going to happen in the trial. More DNA testing needs to be done to prove that someone actually did the crime. Just because people say something doesn't mean its true. We, as a community, need to work together to make sure everyojne gets an equal case. In our consttituition it says everyone has a right to trial regardless waht the police say. Someones's life shouldn't be in a jail cell or execution unless they actually did the crime. For example last year I saw a trial in Texas of a black man who was around the crime scene from 20 years ago, get executed. The court had no evidence but they still did it. the jury was bias and not right. In order to prevent injustice, we must work together and give everyone equal trial.

I'd like to start off by saying that the word 'justice' means to be fair. In able to be just, you need to treat others the same way you would treat yourself. Next, some ways we could make the world more peaceful and just is by talking about our feelings and not lashing them out by physical violence. Whether or not you start a conference group, or go to a psychologist, it is good to say what you feel and not bottle it up. You can't force 'justice' down people's throats either. Talk to a friend about it, then expand from there. No one wants to have something thrown at them full force. Let people get used to the idea and let them act upon it on their own.

  6. As individuals, we can do many things to ensure that our world will become a more peaceful place. One thing we can do is follow the laws. The laws we have in this counrty are very fair compaired to other countries in the world. If we follow all the laws, than there will be no problems like there are now. Thousands of people are in jail, just in the United States, and that's becuase they didn't follow the laws that we have. I feel if we all follow the law everyone will live peaceful, and will not have to worry about those who do break the laws. We can all live together in a happy community. Now all we have to do is show the rest of the world that they can do the same, and create the peaceful world many of us want to live in.

  7. As members as a society, we should be caring twards one another. But that is not good enough for some people. The world today is all about money, sterotyping, and bullying. People dont realize that somthings you say can be very hurtful. We can make the world a better place by teaching eachother to be kind, and inviting to new people they meet. In some cases people can be so mean to other people and its a big problem in our society today. suicide is a big risk in many communitys because some people dont know when to stop being bullys. They get pushed to a certian extreme and eventuallly give up on life and they take there own life. To prevent this you should just be kind to everyone and respect them for who they are. Dont be sterotypical because another person is another color or ethnicity. Its just not kind.

  8. As much as we would love for the world to be a peaceful, amazing, perfect place, that's not going to happen. Unless I can brainwash everyone to follow every rule, to commit no crimes, to be pleasant to everybody and everything, to have no imagination and to agree with everything I say, there's not much someone can do as an individual. Small things can be done by just plain being a nice member of the community, but everyone doesn't want to do that.

  9. Sadly in this world, in this age everyone will never be at peace with one another. Someone will be mad at somone for something or there will just be those few people who are just pure evil. This is why totally peace can never be an option. However, as individuals, we cn do little things for one another to make a situation more peaceful. For example, know someone who lied to someone else about an important thing and instead of trying to talk it out the person who was lied to yelled and got the other person all upset, leaving no peace in the situation. I know lying is bad but it is in our best interest to make the situation as peaceful and as friendly as possilbe. That person could have talked it over instead of just yelling at them and making them feel worse then they probaably already due. We have a duty to be peaceful to one another even in a tight or stressful situation. We have duty to make peace if peace isn't already there or at least attempt peace. Also, there is no peace in this world because we do not respect people's differences. So, it is also our duty to make peace with those who are different from us There will never be perfect peace but we can, as individuals, do our best to make peace.

  10. I believe that in some cases peace cannot be insured, like in To Kill A Mockingbird. In the end of the book, Mr. Ewell never really feels peace because the case didn't go his way and he feels cheated, so he ends up trying to seek revenge in the end of the book. This is an example of what I mean, because yes, some cases will be solved peacefully, but sometimes they aren't and people feel cheated just as Mr. Ewell did.
Really, I don't think peace can always been ensured every single time. some cases of injustices just can't be solved fairly or equally in everybody's opinion. Although in our community, especially at school, "fair" doesn't always cut it for the outcome of the problem.
To be honest, justice, fairness and everything in similar meaning can't always be served because somebody will always think that they have gotten the low end of the totem pole, as some may say. Not everybody is always satisfied with the outcome but sometimes everybody is, which is ideal sometimes, but not always.

  11. Ensuring a more peaceful, equitable place is extremely difficult. It is actually rather impossible. Nothing can truly be "fair" because no one really knows what "fair" is anymore. Fair used to be everyone getting what they deserve. Nowadays, with all the injustices, how are people supposed to know if everyone is getting what they deserve. So many people deserve so many different things that even this thought seems impossible. To ensure a more peaceful place, it is extremely necessary that all the injustices go away. No matter where they take place they need to go away. It makes living so much harder knowing that some things will never change.

  12. Many feel that as members of our community, there are things that we can do ensure "justice for all". However, there really is nothing that we can do to absolutely ensure justice for everyone. Some would say that we can be nice to everyone or make a stand against injustices, but most likely, it wont effect everyone. No matter what we say or do, there will always be some people who break the law and commit crimes. There will always be people who feel some races are more powerful than others. Specifically, some people will always feel that blacks deserve more rights. Also, if you see bullying at your school and try stopping it, the person you stood up to may realize there wrongs, however it could turn out horrible. They could start bullying even worse. There really is no way to absolutely ENSURE the world becomes a more peaceful environment, but there are things that we can do to TRY to make the world a more peaceful place, but without ensuring a successful outcome.

  13. As individuals and as members of our community we can do a few things to ensure that our world becomes a more peaceful place. As individuals, we can treat others the way we want to be treated. This saying is often more easier said, than done. If you treat people with respect, most of the time in return you will get treated with respect. That is how our society works nowadays. As a community, we could have activities like community service projects and work together to do them. It would force everyone to work together on something that will benefit someone else.

  14. The world that we wish to be peaceful will never be truly peaceful, yet we can attempt to make it more peaceful than it is. As individuals, I believe that being a kind and friendly person can make a difference to the world. People that are self-centered and ignorant are the people that cause problems, because they are usually harsh and not a kind person to talk to, but they can still find the kindness that everyone posesses and be a more outgoing and kinder person to others. As a whole community, we can treat each other with more respect and know what is right to do and what is not right to do. Performing these simple task's can make a huge difference, sometimes saving a person from a sad point in life or staying out of prison, even. If everybody realized what they could simply do to help the community and theirselves, then I think the world would be more peaceful than what it is today.

  15. I think that the world will never be peaceful, but we can make more peace among everyone. I think that religion and politics are the biggest separations in the world. Instead of pushing our views onto others because their view is, in your eyes, wrong, we should just accept each others differences and mostly keep to ourselves what you think of others. This will create more peace than what we have in the world today.

  16. As members of our society we can ensure that our world becomes a more peaceful, equitable place by taking part in our community. we can make sure there is no injustice by getting involved with everything that is happeneing around us. Individuals have to be able to voice their opinion on anything they think is wrong around us. you won't be the only one, with enough people you can make sure your point o view is heard. If you think something is wrong, you can tell others and try and correct whatever injustice you encounter. Even if you think something is wrong in a far away country, you can help bring peace and justice to help all you can. You are guaranteed freedom of speech and expression, and it would be a waste to not take advantage of it. There are many things you can do to help bring justice to your society and bring world peace and equality.

  17. Well, in reality, the world can never truly be peaceful. It has nothing to do with caring for one another or how we should work together. You can talk about trying those things, and to a very limited extent they will work. However, there will always be war, and conflict no matter what you do. As long as there are two people on this world that have different ideas, there will never be complete peace. As long as we need food, energy, land, and power, war will always find a way to break out. It all has to do with ideas. Differences in political beliefs and differences in ideas about what we should do with the world around us will always put the different parts of the world at odds. Making the world more peaceful is not something any number of us can truly do. In order to attain peace, we must all become one. that means we must all think the same, look the same, act the same, and believe the same things. In order to attain peace we would all have to be the same person. And even a person fights with himself does he not? So when thinking about a subject like world think about this: how can we as individuals create peace, when we as individuals are at war with ourselves?

  18. I believe that we as individuals can do many things to make our world a more peaceful environment. One of the things that we can do is just doing the little things, such as holding a door for someone, picking up a piece of trash on the sidewalk, or saying hello to someone you see. Personally I believe that this will make a chain reaction, when you make someone's day by doing something nice, that person will also do something to another person and so on and so forth. Another thing that we as a society can do is donate things that you don't want to someone in need. For example if you have a jacket that is too small for you, give it to a homeless shelter so that they are able to be warm. Or you could donate money to shelters that will buy food for all the families in need on the street, and I know that there are a lot of them. This is what people can do as a society to make our world a more enjoyable place.

Peace in the world is a very sensitive question. Not many people talk about it or even metion it. All you hear is the news state on how violence happens and how we humans become the animal with each other. In my opinion I bielve that peace can be possible only if we humans realize the error of our ways. For instance if you look at Slavery we questioned now a days what or why did we humans have no compassion to say no this isnt right. But over time like the Civil War in America we learned that harming these human beings who are just like us only apperence is the difference that we shouldn't do this anymore or continue this act. Another example is that my father said that there was peace in Lebanon and how everyone was always nice and respectful to everyone. He stated this because my father said that when he was growing up people would always respect each other for who they are and if they did something wrong that people would look at the error of thier ways. My dad is right though because if we humans look at the error of our ways it is if we learn from the bad and mistakes that we made in life we can create good in the world and become peaceful with everyone. I believe that if we learn from our mistakes we can become a peaceful civilization with everyone and try to improve the lives of not our own but everyone elses.

  20. Although world peace is unrealistic, there are several things we as humans can do to make everyday society a better and more just place. For example, if we become more educated of different people and there cultures we will be more understanding and tolerant.Additionally, if we as individuals do are best to abide by everyday rules we can have less crime. If everyone tries their best to stay out of trouble people will not have to worry about unfair trials. Nevertheless, the idea of everyone following the laws is very unrealistic. Mankind is a very stubborn species. Many people to what they consider right regardless of consequences. Therefore, in order to improve the fairness in our world we have to are best to become educated and look at issues without a bias.

  21. However we may attempt it, we cannot make the world entirely peaceful, but we can still do our best to try. In a utopian society, none of the crimes or public offenses that we see today would be occurring, but the world is not perfect so many of these crimes still happen no matter how good our law enforcement system is. One thing the citizens could do to help keep the peace is to increase security in many plays of value that might otherwise be susceptible to thievery. Another reason that could attribute to the crime rates is the lack of aid for the middle to lower class of economy. The reasoning behind this is the majority of crimes that plague us is by those who need more money or are those in the lower class.

Injustice is a plague that affects every aspect of our lives. We cannot escape injustice, for it is simply a cruel reality that comes with the gift of knowledge that humans have been blessed with. Throughout history, humans have created massive monuments, unlocked the Earth’s great secrets, built powerful empires that encompassed entire continents, and have even created rich, wonderful cultures. Unfortunately, the sad truth about humanity is that all of our accomplishments eventually crumble before us, sometimes more quickly than their creation was. Empires fall, knowledge is lost, and cultures are forgotten as they are obscured by the ashes of war, poverty, and disease. The same is true for injustice. Great leaders have arisen to meet the challenge of injustice head on. Leaders like Martin Luther King jr, Ghandi, and Mother Theresa, as well as countless others, have all battled against the invisible tyranny of injustice. But for every leader of peace, there is another figure waiting to crush progress with an iron fist. This figure, human or otherwise, continues to impede progress even today. An assasin’s bullet, a figure of tyranny like Ahmedinijad or al-Asad, or even the course of nature itself are all capable of reversing the good done in the name of justice. There will always be obstacles to progress that will continue to prevent mankind from reaching a future of peace, justice, and prosperity. But this does not mean that we should stop fighting for justice. This does not mean that we should bend to the will of tyrants. This does not mean that we can allow ourselves to give up and die. We must continue to fight against injustice. It is the only way that we can evolve into the great beings that we are capable of being.

  23. In order to ensure that our world and community is a peaceful place, there needs to be a change. We all need to pitch in and help to make our world a better place. However, it starts as individuals. Each and every person needs to help out. We need to start off in our communities. We should start off in our communities because not only is it where you live, but it is also the right thing to do. After we help out our communities, only then is when we move on to helping and creating justice in the world. In order to create justice, people need to stand up for what they think is right. We also need to act on certain situations. We can't just let things go by that aren't right. If someone is being bullied, we can't just stand back and watch it happen. We have to do something about it. That is how we can ensure that we can create peace and justice in our world.
