What makes a hero?

Everyone has a hero or two who inspires them.  Describe one of your heroes.  It can someone real or fictional, mortal or immortal.  Do you best to detail their heroic traits.  What makes them a hero?  What is their quest or objective?  What weaknesses or imperfections do they possess?  One paragraph.   DUE 9/11/14 BY 7 A.M.

  1. Felicity Kinsella- I look up to quite a few people but my hero is truly my dad. He has always had a big heart to help others. A while back my dog was being abused by her owner and my dad took her and she now lives with us. My dad is also there to give advice to anyone who needs it. I know I can trust my dad and I know he will be there for me no matter what. Hes there to get through everything and any thing yet to come. I'm proud to call my dad my best friend, but he has his own imperfections like every single person has. His weakness is when someone in our family gets hurt, sick, or dies hes the first to panic but sometimes there's nothing you can do to stop that. All together my dad is my hero and my best friend.

  2. Elizabeth Mello- A hero doesn't have to be someone who saves some ones life or does a good deed. A hero can be someone you look up to as an inspiration or someone you follow and want to be like. I considered my dad a hero because of how determined he always is and no matter what he does he never gives up. I consider him my hero because when I grow up I want to be just like him.

  3. Maly Ndiaye: like Liz said , a hero doesnt have to be a person that saves you , it coukd be an ordinary person that you look up to, even if its a complete stranger, someone who can make you stronger especially when youre weak . Someone who does good for someone else out of the kindness of their heart even if its the smallest thing . My best friends are my heroes . They make me stronger when im weak and they are always there for me. They do everything for me out of the kindness of their hearts even if its the smallest gesture.

  4. I look up to many people in my life, but the person I look up to most is my memere. my memere dropped out of school in the beginning of ninth grade, which 60 years ago was common. Although my memere says she regrets it now, she made the choice and she can't change it. The reason my memere is my hero, or someone I look up to is because with only an 8th grade education she managed to get married start her family and get a steady job. She also retired early from her job at TI to take care of my pepere when he got sick, and she is the reason he lived longer. My memere went through a lot all her life and she always put her family before herself. I hope one day I can have the patients my memere has and can put others before myself.

  5. A hero most definitely doesn't have to be someone who saves lives. Of course they can, but there are heroes under different categories. Like an inspirational person or someone who sets a good role on many people. As a kid, I always looked up to doctors as heroes. I began to see how often they saved lives and put in their effort to do so. A few years ago my grandfather suffered a very bad heart attack, thankfully the ambulance got to their home right away and the paramedics were able to save him. That made me so grateful for the hope and effort that nurses, doctors, etc. put in their jobs to save lives. Each days lives are saved because of the opportunity to be able to go to the hospital or doctors when needed. Heroes can be a variety of different people but doctors and nurses effect me the most.

My heroes are fire fighters. They take their job with pride and dignity and they're very well respected. They save a lot or try to save as many as they can, people. They know what their doing and they know how to do it well without hurting themselves or other people. They're very well trained. Like how to put out fires or take someone out of a burning building. And they'll safe people/ take a fire out no matter what day it is or time it is. It's amazing what they do for other people, they risk their lives to safe someone or something in a burning building or etc.

My hero is Los Angeles Angels 1st baseman Albert Pujols. He is a hero because as a baseball player he gets paid a lot of money every year. One of his kids has down syndrome and when she was born he created the Albert Pujols Foundation which donates and helps kids and family's with down syndrome live life to the fullest. What makes Albert Pujols a hero is that even though he makes over 100 million on his contract to play baseball most of it goes to charity. He could be a person who saves all of his money for himself but he choses not to do that. His quest is to help all children with down syndrome and to maybe someday find a cure to help them have a better life. I personally believe that he has no weakness because he is my hero and usually people chose their hero's on who they think is tough and helps out.

  8. Both of my parents are hero's to me, but if I had to focus on one it would be my dad. not only is my dad my hero he is my best friend. my dad has helped me throughout my whole life and he has always supported me in all that I do. my dad is at almost every baseball game I play in and when he's not he wants to know all about it. My dad is the reason I love to play baseball, he always taught me to fulfill my dreams no matter what anyone says or thinks about it. My dad will always be by my side and my hero.

A hero doesn't have to be someone who wears a cape. It could be someone who saved you without even trying. My hero would be my idol, Jacob Whitesides. He has worked all of his life to be where he is now and he just went on his first tour. I don't just love him for his music, but because he is a great person and i look up to him so much. He is my hero because he saved me without knowing he did.

A hero can be anyone. It can be me, a fire fighter, and even superman. Basically all heroes have the same basis. They work towards a goals and try to accomplish it. A firefighter’s goal is to put out the fire, the Knights of the Round Table protect the thoughts cannot protect themselves, and the Patriots fight for a super bowl. The most important thing about a hero is that they all have a major flaw. Superman has kryptonite, which is the most famous flaw ever. A man who is bullet proof! Plus he can shoot lazars out of his eyes and has super strength! Yet, he is left powerless by a rock… come on. Why do you think Batman beats superman? No one is going to see that movie. Ben Affleck is just not a believable Batman. A hero is any person who has a quest, a flaw, and a great talent. These things build to make something wonderful.

My hero is my father. Not because he saved anyone, but because he is there for me and helps me try harder in anything I do. When I was little, my grandmother died and, having lost his mother, my father had panic attacks. Then he started calming down and it was really good to see him dealing with his loss. I was 7 so it had taken me a while to grasp what had happened. As it turns out, I had inherited panic attacks and when I was 12, I'd had one. I was extremely scared and when I asked my dad about it, he completely understood. We had talked for a while, I felt like I had connected with my dad that night and I had realized what he had been through. that's why I believe my father is a hero, he can carry on and give advice through what he'd been through. I know it's not the most heroic, but it is to me. I want to be the kind of person my dad is. A hero.

  12. My hero is not a family member but somebody who is quite the famous person most people would perceive as a bad person or role model. That "bad person" is Marilyn Manson. I chose Marilyn Manson because after years of doing vigorous research on him and about him i have come to love him. He is by far the most intriguing person i have learned about because he knows people better than they know themselves, he is very manipulative and intelligent and uses those traits towards positive things. Now that i have educated myself instead of thinking that he's the bad guy, he is honestly a very strong person. He has gotten beat down so many times with blames of school shootings and people threatening to kill him, depression, being kicked out of places, judged upon and worst of all his drug abuse problem. While Marilyn was going through all of the blame he also didn't refuse it or try to hide from it. during one of his interviews the person interviewing him after the whole blame of columbine on him asked, "what if the kids at columbine were hear today, what would you say to them?" and all Marilyn Manson had to say back was, "i wouldn't say a single word to them. I'd listen to what they have to say. and that's what no one did." This proves that he does have a heart and soul, he may be considered weird and all but weird is me and he has been the one to help me through many trials in my life. If he can do it i can do it. He is so imperfect to the point he is perfect, He is a hero because he is original and weird. He may have problems in his life but most people forget that though he is famous he is a human who has feelings and a normal life too. His main point in everything he does is to be yourself and i agree with him on that because those who don't like you for you are just a copy of someone else and my goal in life is to look and feel comfortable with myself and not care what others have to say about me just because i'm being who i truly am.

  13. My hero isn't someone famous, my hero is my mom. My mom is my hero because she's always there for me. I don't think a hero has to be someone like Superman, saving the day all the time. A hero for me is someone who impacts your life greatly. My mom is someone who always encourages me to put my best foot forward and try my hardest. She picks me up when I'm down and helps me get to where I need to be. Heroes' have imperfections and flaws, like anyone else, but that's what makes them great. My mom has made mistakes and learned from, now she teaches me not to make the same ones. Heroes don't have to save a life, they can give advice on life. I go to my mom a lot for advice and I usually get something out of it. A hero is someone who you have to catch when you when you fall and brush you off, and the person that does that is my mom.

  14. Jacob Ribeiro - A hero can be anyone you or someone looks up to. My hero is my mother. I believe that a hero doesn't need super powers. A hero should be someone you look up to, someone you admire. My mom, when I need help, can help me with my work if I don't understand or get a problem wrong and don't know why. My mom is someone who I admire and look up to, and one day be able to help everyone around me the best I can, just like her. She might not have super powers but, she has the helpfulness that I need.
